Ranchi:The feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola is celebrated on July 31 every across the world where Jesuits are working. St. Ignatius of Loyola is the founder of the order in Roman Catholicism known as Society of Jesus or the Jesuits.
With 16,000-plus priests, brothers, scholastics and novices worldwide, Jesuits are the largest male religious order in the Catholic Church. In their varied ministries, they care for the whole person: body, mind, and soul. Specially in our education ministries, they seek to nurture “men and women for others.” Jesuits draw on the rich tradition of Ignatian spirituality and reflection.
Every province, region, and more so in every Jesuit run Institution, the feast day of the founder St. Ignatius of Loyola is celebrated pompously. However, this year due to the present ongoing pandemic of Covid-19 and the lockdown and government restrictions, there is practically no celebration except on digital platform.
In Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, the Jesuit headquarter, Sadbhavna has invited all the readers and well wishers to participate in live telecast of the Holy Mass at 6.30 am on July 31, 2020 while staying at homes. The theme of the Holy Mass is “A Call to Love and Serve the Poor, Migrants, the Outcats...”
His Grace Felix Toppo, SJ, the Archbishop of Ranchi will be the Main Celebrant and Fr Ajit Xess, SJ, the Provincial Superior will give the homily on the occasion.
